Salem-Keizer NAACP

Scholarship Announcement

Founded in 1909, in response to the ongoing violence against Black people around the

country, the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) is

the largest and most pre-eminent civil rights organization in the nation. We have over

2,200 units and branches across the nation, along with well over 2 million activists. Our

mission is to secure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights to

eliminate race-based discrimination and ensure the health and well-being of all persons.

Over the years, the NAACP has consistently advocated for social justice and providing a

voice to Black/African Americans. Locally, we continue to pave the way for our young

people to have opportunities that further their educational goals. Thus, we have expanded

our college scholarship program to include technical or other career opportunities.

(Details of the scholarship are attached.)

Black/African American students and students of Color are strongly encouraged to apply.

The scholarship deadline is Wednesday, May 31, 2023, and it must be sent via email by

Wednesday, May 31, 2023. The NAACP is looking for seniors who are planning to

attend a college or university, and/or pursue career technical educational opportunities.

For questions and more information please contact Dr. Irvin M Brown, SK-NAACP
